I love playing with new toys. But I also love giving things away. I know it’s too early for Christmas, but … what the heck. Here are two new toys for Christmas.
Over on our resources page, I’ve posted two new demo files. The first one is a little bar code reading tool that demonstrates just how easy it is to leverage the bar code parsing capabilities of FileMaker, specifically FileMaker Go on iOS. Just load the file to your iOS device using FileMaker Go (available from the Apple App Store), and point the camera at just about any bar code (including QR codes). The tool will parse out the code and show you what the result is. It doesn’t actually do anything with the information; it’s just intended to show you what the code contains. (It’s often fun just to spy on what’s encoded in all these gizmos people stamp their products with.)
The second demo shows some options for building a List – Detail view in a FileMaker system. You do need FileMaker for this one, but if you’ve ever tried to build an interface like this, it can be a little tricky. So download the demo and take a look. Might provide some useful information!
